Overview
Quartech Systems Ltd has been providing IT consulting services to the
Insurance Corporation of BC for the past two decades. Quartech has worked with
ICBC on several key initiatives during this period including project delivery,
consulting services, and support/maintenance services.
Background
Established in 1973, the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC)
provides automobile insurance to motorists in the province of British Columbia.
While extended third-party legal liability and other optional insurance
coverage can be purchased from other competing auto insurance providers, all
motorists in the province are required to buy a basic package of ICBC Autoplan
insurance.
ICBC collects insurance premiums from more than 2.6 million motorists. In 2002
gross revenue from premiums collected was over $2.6 billion CDN. In addition to
providing auto insurance coverage ICBC is also responsible for driver
licensing, vehicle registration and licensing and commercial vehicle
compliance.
Quartech's Role
Quartech's consultants has been providing ICBC with various technology
solutions for the past two decades. In addition, our skilled resources have
worked alongside ICBC staff to provide support and maintenance on their key
insurance applications, such as claims, motor vehicles, litigation, and
settlement systems. Quartech has also been involved in application enhancement
initiatives for ICBC insurance transaction applications, insurance and finance
legacy integration with SAP, Customer Relationship Management system, and a
Crash Crime data warehouse project.
The legal department in particular requires leading edge solutions to deliver
systems required by their litigation team. The Litigation Project involved
real-time access of client and claims data residing in IMS and presented as an
integrated system at the user desk top. This project replaced a message-based
solution.
Quartech was also involved in the implementation of the Autoplan Sales Project.
This high-profile project resulted in the first Web-based sales of supplemental
insurance products through external broker offices.
These initiatives include a wide variety of technologies and architectures.
Quartech has been involved in projects that require expertise in MQ Series,
DB2, IMS, SQL Server, PL/1, Java, Delphi, VB, and .NET.
