Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Finance Manager is responsible for managing the day to day operation of the Finance department as well as supporting the CFO as it relates to the finance function.  This role will be looked upon to provide accurate, timely, and relevant monitoring/reporting of the financial performance of the organization.


Major Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Finance Department, including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Issuance of timely and accurate monthly financial statements.
  • Issuance of full working papers to support the financial statements.
  • Ensure timely and accurate filing of all statutory and government reports.
  • Lease contract renewals & facilities management.
  • Corporate insurance policy management.
  • Establish and maintain internal controls and ensure Continuous Quality Improvement.
  • Develop new processes and policies that adhere to GAAP and ASPE as needed to support the company through continued growth.
  • Continually look for ways to reduce costs and achieve efficiencies as it pertains to Finance.
  • Develop relationships with external stakeholders i.e. Bank, insurance, clients as needed.
  • Supervise and provide guidance/mentorship to the Finance Department.
  • Develop annual goals and objectives for the Finance department that align with the corporate vision and strategy.
  • Perform performance reviews for the Finance Team members.
  • Support the CFO with the corporate budgeting & forecasting process.
  • Support the CFO with the preparation and analysis of various reports as needed.
  • Support the CFO with the management/filings of the related corporate entities.
  • Support the CFO and the organization with the implementation of D365 Finance & Operations and continuous software system upgrades/improvements.

Experience and Qualifications

  • CPA Designation, preferably CPA, CA.
  • Minimum of 10 years of accounting experience, 3 years of relevant managerial/supervisory experience.
  • Advanced proficiency with various accounting software packages - experience with D365 for Finance & Operations a considerable asset.
  • Software implementation experience also a considerable asset.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel user.
  • Budget and forecast creation and reporting.
  • Sound understanding of risk management.
  • Strong formal and informal leadership skills.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Excellent organizational skills with multi-tasking ability.
  • Good problem solving and conflict resolution capability.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally between Victoria and the Vancouver offices.
  • Experience in an IT Consulting environment would be an asset.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
